Madrid, New Mexico
As a young man I went hitch-hiking & wound up squatting in one of it's many abandoned houses. It was an artist dream.
A huge ghost town with maybe 5 residents.
I would get up every morning & watercolor all day. Ride into Santa Fe on market days & sell my artwork on the sidewalk along with the Native Americans. I was a rich hippie without a care in the world." Take no thought for tomorrow,What you shall eat, What you shall wear..."
I thought I had found the perfect life.
And the caretaker taught me to to drink tequila without swallowing the worm. Important life skills were learned.
Time has passed but not the memory!
