Texas Horny Toad

I spent hours catching them when I was a boy. I kept a shoe box full of them under my bed. I remember seeing Ben Hur & coming home to build chariots out of matchboxes. The horn toads were delighted to have to pull them around my chariot race track? I remember thinking perhaps they needed to see the movie as they didn't seem to have the idea down pat.
They will shoot blood out of their eyes... As a boy I discovered all the defensive behavior of the various animal playmates I brought home. I even tried walking a raccoon on a leash!
But that is a different story......
